Charlie Murphy Net Worth is $3 Million (at death)
It is quite difficult to say what is the exact Charlie Murphy net worth at the moment, because different sources provide different information. Some websites suggest that he has some $22 million, while the others claim that his capital and assets are worth $2.5 million. I don’t know how about you, but I tend to believe that this less optimistic estimation is closer to reality. Even though Charlie was relatively successful in his career, he is not that famous or popular. And it is more than obvious that Charlie Murphy net worth is significantly inferior to that of his brother, Eddie Murphy.

Yes, if you did not know it so far, Charlie is the younger brother of incredibly successful and filthy rich comedian (actor, television producer, film producer and director, screenwriter…) Eddie Murphy. In fact, I think it is the work with his brother what made Charlie so famous on the first place. Due to the success of such movies as Coming to America, Wes Craven’s Vampire in Brooklyn, and Nutty Professor (in which, by the way, he has played multiple roles) Eddie’s fortune currently amounts to $85 million. I guess it will be a while until Eddie Murphy net worth comes anywhere close to that of his brother. If, of course, this ever happens at all…
Now as about Charlie‘s early life, it has not been particularly easy. He started hanging with the „wrong crowd“ at the young age and served his term in jail by the time he turned 20. Luckily for him, Charlie has managed to get his life together and changed his ways. Right upon the release from jail, he has enlisted in the US navy and spent 6 years (!) working as a Boiler Technician. By the time Charlie returned home, Eddie was already an accomplished (well, more or less) stand-up comedian and actor. In fact, back then he already held a couple of nominations for Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, another nomination for Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actor and an award for NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture.
The rumour goes, it was the older brother who introduced Charlie to some of the comedians he knew and in turn, helped him to become a recurring performer on Chappelle’s Show. Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories , that was the name of sketches he created on this show, were quite popular and he went on to appear in movies, including Jungle Fever, The Pompatus of Love, The Players Club, Night at the Museum, King’s Ransom. As for the day, the younger Murphy is still acting and doing stand-up comedy, but I would not say that his career is thriving. Thus there are no reasons to expect any dramatic increases in Charlie Murphy net worth!
